Nuyorican Poets Cafe is Member of the Month!

We’re thrilled that the beloved Nuyorican Poets Café is our August Member of the Month! Nuyorican presents groundbreaking works of literature, music, theater, performance art, poetry slam, hip hop, visual art and champions established as well as rising artists from every background imaginable.

Nuyorican is certainly one of the most happening music spots in the Lower East Side. You can get your fill of multicultural music all week long, and tomorrow be sure to come out for unique Afro-Peruvian Jazz, developed by Gabriel Alegria, one of the most influential figures in Perú’s Jazz scene. The Gabriel Alegria Afro-Peruvian Sextet brings together trumpet & flugel, saxophones, guitar, bass, and percussion with cajón and zapateo dancing. Special guest multi-media artist, Meg Schedel, will also be joining the band for this performance. Check them out!
