East Village Eats Spotlight: Spot Dessert Bar
23 Oct
For noshers in the East Village looking to satisfy their sweet tooth, Spot Dessert Bar is a haven of exotic and tempting delights. From white chocolate macadamia cookies to matcha green “tearamisu”, Spot’s menu melds flavors from the East and the West to accommodate palates from the simple to the sophisticate. Situated a few steps down from St. Mark’s bustling sidewalks, Spot boasts a desserts selection of refined quality at accessible prices and provides a nice, sweet respite day or night.
Inspired during their travels around the world, Spot’s owners set out to create a relaxed dessert venue that infuses classic American desserts with an Asian influence. Asian pastry chef guru and Thai Iron Chef Ian Kittichai consulted on the menu, and Spot’s offerings run the gamut from cookies to cupcakes to unique, seasonal dessert “tapas”. Their signature dessert is the green tea lava cake, a mound of chocolate decadence oozing both chocolate and green tea filling and served with a side of green tea ice cream. Another customer favorite is the soft cheesecake: a deconstructed cheesecake crafted with passion foam, blueberry compote, seasonal citrus and walnut soil.
As a new addition to this year’s East Village Eats Tasting Tour, Spot will be doling out chocolate chip coconut cookies to tour participants. So be sure to stop by Spot for a little sugar rush this Saturday!
